Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bean - to - Bar?
Bean - to - Bar is a term referring to one company or brand controls the chocolate making process from the purchase of the beans through to the final end product. Most chocolatiers purchase bulk chocolate and then melt it down to create their confections. Here at Smile Chocolates we purchase our beans raw and we roast, sort, crack, winnow, grind, refine, conch, temper and mould them all in one place.
How long does the chocolate making process take?
From whole beans to finished product it takes about 4 - 5 days. If the moulding, packaging and labeling time is included then it goes up to 7 - 10 days.
Where are you located?
We are currently located in Miami, Florida within the Design District. During the week a selection of our products are available for purchase at MadLab Creamery.
How long does shipping take?
We only ship orders out on Monday and Wednesday. By doing so, we can guarantee that no packages will be left sitting in transport over the weekend which could potentially ruin the product.
Does the chocolate need to be refrigerated?
You can, but it is not necessary. All of our products are shelf stable at room temperatures. We suggest you store your confections and chocolates in a cool, dark, dry place until you enjoy them. It is best to enjoy the bonbons within two weeks of receiving them, the confections within three weeks and the chocolate bars within two months.
